A tradition of hospitality

Capio Group's French Private Hospitals have always welcomed International Patients attracted by:

  • our quality health care,
  • our reactivity and short delay for care,
  • our competitive prices when compared to other Western countries,
  • our hospitals' accessibility,
  • the overall excellence of French Healthcare system (ranked n°1 among 190 countries by the latest World Health Organization chart).

Our hospitals are located nearby international airports in cities that have diverse cultural and touristic attractions, allowing recovering patients and their family or friends to relax and discover new horizons.

For more information, please contact us at international@capio.com

Why come to Capio ?

On top of the general advantages of the French Healthcare system (highly trained and qualified surgeons, competitive fares, ...) our clinics bring you Capio Group's strengths as a leading European Care Provider (www.capio.com);

  • Shared values among all clinics (Patient satisfaction, Trust, Respect and empathy, Innovation, Social utility),
  • Experienced surgeons mastering our quality procedures thanks to their permanent on-site presence and involvement,
  •  State-of-the-art medical equipments allowing cutting edge diagnostics (ex. nuclear medicine) or low invasive surgery (laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, Da Vinci robot-assisted surgery, stereotaxy...),
  • A comprehensive quality and risk management policy, coordinated centrally at Group level.

This organization allows us to be confident in the care quality we provide and to propose "all inclusive" fares, should an unpredictable intensive care unit stay be necessary.

Our medical expertise

Our size allows us to propose any type of medical or surgical treatment authorized on French territory.

Most of our clinics in France are oriented towards complex surgeries such as cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, digestive and bariatric surgery, orthopeadic surgery, urologic surgery, gynaecologic surgery, and use state-of-the-art equipement to perform medical interventions in the safest possible environment.

We put special emphasis on performing minimally invasive surgery and we are proud to say that Clinique de la Sauvegarde in Lyon is the place where the first coeliosurgery was performed in 1987, with Dr. Mouret and his team taking the opportunity to remove a patient's gall blader with this technic. This worldwide breakthrough significantly changed the face of surgery since then.

When medically possible we also perform outpatient / ambulatory surgeries, for instance for cataract, varicose veins removal, inguinal hernia repair, haemorrhoidectomy, gastroscopy, ...

Indeed short stays have proved to be more efficient when it comes to reducing the infection risks.

The cities where we operate

Our approach

We have packaged a specific Offer aiming at improving the quality of the information exchanged with the Patient before arrival.  It includes :

  • An initial contact by email from our central Capio coordination platform with the objective of understanding your need and providing you with advice if necessary,
  • Formalized exchanges in English or French,
  • Communication of detailed information on fares and on specific care pathway,
  • Guidance on the housing possibilities on-site or close to the clinic once the surgeon and the clinic have been chosen.

In most cases and once at the clinic we can communicate in a language other than French or English: ex. Arab, Spanish, Italian, Russian, ...

These possibilities are discussed on a case by case basis and upon request.

FAQ

Is a specific visa required to travel to France ? Do I need a passport or another administrative paper ?

To know more ...

There is no unique answer to your question as it depends on your citizenship.
For European citizen of course formalities are very much simplified, if any, and in some cases it is even possible to have the treatment partly paid directly by the National Health System of the european country of origin.
In all cases you need to ask for a European Health Insurance Card; if you do not have one yet, you might be able to apply for it on line, that is the case for UK citizen for instance at the following NHS web link.
If you are not a European citizen, please visit the web site from the French Government to see if you can find out about your personal situation, or contact you local Government dedicated Department.

Should I encourage a relative to come with me ? Will he/she be able to enjoy the area despite my treatment ?

To know more ...

Despite the support and care quality the team will provide to you, it is impossible to replace the attention and empathy brought by a family member or friend ... This is why we strongly recommend that you do not come alone.  You should not worry about he/she loosing ends; most of Capio Group Clinics in France are located in touristic areas and there is no doubt that a few days' trip will be enjoyable.  Low cost airlines also offer a variety of flights to those destinations, so the extra cost should not be too high. If you decide to come alone, to make you feel more confortable about it an option is to use a facilitator's service, who will watch after your global well being while in France.

Is it safe to travel to France for medical treatment ?

To know more ...

What do you mean by safe ? In terms of living standards, France is one of the most developped countries in the World, in fact it is similar to the level you could find in United States, Canada, Switzerland, Germany ... In terms of Health management, France has been rated  N°1 by the World Health Organization (United States is ranked 37th, Canada 30th, Switzerland 20th, Germany 25th).  The medical offer is abundant, with both public and private sectors, from which the patient can choose. This choice left to the patient together with the wide medical offer encourages competition and search of excellence. Both factors lead to excellent value for money, in a safe environment.

Do you recommend specific accommodations for my wife if she wants to come with me ?

To know more ...

A wide choice of accomodation is available by clicking on the Cities' tourist office internet sites. We can help you choose by recommending accomodations near the chosen clinic and the city center.
